Marcom celebrates 500 days without a recordable injury

Berry Astrapak’s Marcom site recently celebrated 500 days without a recordable injury, which comes as a direct result of continued focus on a high level of health and safety standards within the company.

Marcom’s SHEQ Team has consistently led their teams to uphold the safety regulations that the Berry Group has implemented and continue to drive health and safety awareness throughout the site. Sharing of best practices and reporting hazards have contributed to reducing incidents and injuries on the floor.

“At Marcom, we place a high priority on the Berry Safety Principles, encouraging our employees to utilise the “stop work, red card” system. Hazard identification as well as closing out on these hazards has also contributed to creating a working environment where our people feel safe,” said Gert van der Berg, Marcom SHEQ Manager.

“Safety is an essential way of life at Marcom. Our staff understand the importance of safety and that these safety measures have been put into place to ensure that they go home safely after work each day. No supplier can replace two eyes or a hand, which makes one think carefully before they act,” said Gerhard van Reenen, Marcom General Manager.
