B-BBEE status updated to Level 1

After a recent announcement of Berry Astrapak’s improved rating from a Level 3 to a Level 2 B-BBEE certificate, the Executive Team is proud to announce that after a review of the result, the certificate has been updated to Level 1. With Level 1 being the highest accolade that a business can achieve, this places Berry Astrapak amongst only a handful of large packaging manufacturers that carry this level of accreditation.

Group Operations Executive, Nawaaz Kalick, said: “Subsequent to the issuing of the certificate in September, we re-submitted updated data for consideration by the Audit Committee. We were ecstatic to find out that this had resulted in us scoring beyond 100 points and qualifying us for this level.”

“My sincere thanks and appreciation goes out to the BEE Committee, our Site supply chain teams, and the various support services across the Group who have contributed to this achievement,” said Nawaaz. “A special mention also goes out to our Advisor, Vish Ramsamy, who pushed us into reviewing the data and supporting our re-submission to the Verification Agency. Maintaining the Level 1 status will be a challenge, but we have no doubt that the combined efforts of this team will ensure that we do that.”

The Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Verification Certificate is based on information provided to Renaissance SA Ratings, a SANAS accredited BEE Verification agency.
